Buying and selling property during the Coronavirus outbreak

Under current , you can still buy, sell, and move home. But it’s completely natural to have questions about the process. We’re here to answer those questions and to reassure you that we’re doing everything to help you buy and sell your homes safely.

What if I am in the process of buying or selling a house?

At the moment, all activities involved with buying, selling, and moving are allowed by the government: including viewing properties, surveying, conveyancing, and moving. You can see the latest government guidelines .

But we’re still asking our customers to be flexible. This may mean doing some steps virtually or allowing more time for a home sale in the case that anyone involved develops symptoms.

Although the legal requirement has changed, the guidance is still to self-isolate if you have Covid or any of the main symptoms. If anyone in your household is self-isolating or displaying symptoms of coronavirus, then the advice is that you should not be progressing with a house sale until it is safe for you to do so.

What does this mean if I want a valuation?

We can still value your home and get you on the market, simply to get started. Valuations can be carried out virtually if preferred, using apps like Whatsapp or Zoom. If you’re not sure how to use them, we can talk you through it.

For in-person meetings, the latest government guidelines state: “The government suggests that you continue to wear a face covering in crowded and enclosed spaces where you may come into contact with other people you do not normally meet.”

Our Strike agents will always wear a mask if the customer would prefer.

What does this mean if I want to list my property?

If you’re looking to sell your home, we’re happy to list your property and get started. But we also understand that things are changing and you might not be sure if this is the right time for you to sell. Your Strike agent will talk you through the current market and what you’re looking for from a home sale, to work out what’s in your best interest.

Can property viewings take place?

Yes, property viewings are permitted by the government, as per the latest guidance

Although you can have in-person viewings, you may also carry out viewings virtually. Simply book a viewing through the website and use our messaging facility to arrange it. If it’s a hosted viewing, just reach out to Strike and we’ll help arrange a virtual session.

For in-person viewings, the same government guidance applies: “The government suggests that you continue to wear a face covering in crowded and enclosed spaces where you may come into contact with other people you do not normally meet.”

As we mentioned, we will speak to each customer about how they would like to proceed.

If you’d prefer not to host viewings yourself, we offer a hosted viewings service. Please if you’d like to find out more.

What is Strike doing to protect against Covid-19?

We’re doing everything we can to put your safety first. In addition to the government guidelines, we’ve put some procedures in place to protect our customers — and the Strike family.

All agents will still carry masks and hand sanitiser, and we're always happy to have a chat about the way our customers would like to proceed.
