Liverpool waterfront
The L19 postcode includes Aigburth, Garston, Cressington Park and Grassendale in Liverpool, within the county of Merseyside.
L19 is a fairly established area, particularly Aigburth which is very popular. So whilst the demand will consistently be high, you're less likely to turn a vast profit here than in an up-and-coming area: L19 has already “up and come” as it were.
L19 is a beautiful and prosperous area of Liverpool. Aigburth in particular is a very popular town. Many people move here not only for the small-town feel and verdant surroundings, but also for how close it is to Liverpool city centre.
If you work or study in Liverpool city centre, it would be easy to commute from the L19 area. A resident of L19 could probably trick themselves into thinking they lived in the remote countryside, but in reality L19 is very close to the city centre. From Aigburth, for example, it would take only 10 minutes to drive to Liverpool city centre, or around 20 minutes by bus.
It's hard to say what the average house in L19 might be, because of the wide variety. There are mid-century semis, Victorian terraces, contemporary townhouses and even a couple of bungalows (a rare find on the market!)
Yes, L19 has some brilliant schools at every level. Banks Road Primary School, Gilmour Infant School and Cressington Manor School for example, have all been rated “outstanding” by Ofsted.
L19 is one of the more expensive postcodes in Liverpool, though it is generally less expensive than L18. The suburban, leafy area is popular, plus the quality of the properties themselves push the prices up. Despite being on the more expensive side of things for Liverpool, the city in general is still very affordable compared to the rest of the UK, with a report suggesting that by the end of 2022 London houses are 41% more expensive.
L19 is largely pretty quiet, with a strong community feel. This encourages older people to move here; you're certainly more likely to get some good old-fashioned neighbourly support than in L1 and other more urban areas. It's also possible to live very close to the centre of villages like Aigburth, meaning you could have everything you need on your doorstep. Local amenities like the park and golf club also make it popular with retirees looking to fill their days with leisure activities.
Yes, lots of people chose to raise families in L19 so there is a large population of babies, children and young people. People may choose to move more centrally, or relocate to other cities like Manchester in adolescence and young adulthood. Young couples and families certainly live in the area, particularly after the global pandemic when people started valuing more room for home offices, and more outdoor space - both of which are easier to come by in suburban areas.
L19 has excellent nursery, primary and secondary schools, which is just one of the reasons why families may relocate here. There are also plenty of parks and playgrounds, as well as a sports centre and cricket club. Because there is more space in L19 than in central Liverpool, you're more likely to have a garden or patio in your property. Also, for teenagers who might want easy access to the excitement of inner-city Liverpool, the transport is super easy and quick.
